Long time coming... PDF Print E-mail

news_newsIt's been a long time coming, news from the front, and boy do we have news for you! First of all, it should not have slipped your attention that FeelThere's working on the EMB2 (projectname), which will not be an update from the original E-Jet series, but two completely new models : The E-175 and the E-195. Of course, up to todays standards, the FSX model will be 'specced' and 'bumped', features that will really bring the model to a new high. More on the progress of this sleek, sexy jet soon.

With the new project approaching its release date, we also picked up the MD11 HDT project. Those of you paying attention have seen a new surge in staff MD11 forum posts, and I can only say that with a couple of new guys in our midst, and the 'old and trusted' at their side, we do not see why we should put this project on hold any longer. Of course, we canned the MD11 on at least a gazillion occasions the past two years, but hey, you know what they say : Gazillionth and first time is a charm (they don't actually say that, I don't know why I said that).

Ow, and about those new guys : They're Ray Gagnon and Tito Henao. We expect a lot from these two. So stay tuned, same batchannel, same battime (and again, I don't know why I said that).

Fast, faster, fastest! PDF Print E-mail

news_wwwIt was one of those weeks. A semi HD failure and our move from a Shared hosting environment to a Virtual Private Server set us back at least a week. The good thing about all this is that after all this sleep deprivation, at least my desktop is mad fast again, and so is our website for that matter. Going from 32mb shared to 4GB semi private does mean it is no longer the case that when you can click on a tab, and while waiting for the page to load, you can go to the IKEA, buy a double bed, come home, build the damn bed and when you look at your screen still see the page loading.

No sir! We should have a crazy fast website, so your user experience will be optimal, hereby enhancing the overall quality of your life (I don't know why I said that, I probably read it somewhere).

All jokes aside, we went from 2.000 to over 6.000 users in just over 6 months, and while this happened we kept adding more and more features, while forgetting that we MIGHT need more recourses as well to be able to run all those slick new features for all those new users.

So, here we are. Faster than ever! Enjoy it (while it lasts)!

AVSIM says : Second to none! PDF Print E-mail

Yesterday it was Simflight.com who reviewed the FeelThere Embraer Regional Jet, today it's AVSIM. AVSIM, renowned for their class A reviews put staff reviewer Marlon Carterto work and this is what he said about our textures :

"Overall I would give the model itself 9/10. The textures produced by McPhat studios are second to none when it comes to high definition aircraft textures. The high quality repaints that come along with this package takes the ERJ family to another level of quality that is rarely seen."

Of course there's more, and of course the package itself gets high marks, but you can read the entire review for yourself here.

Ha! 2010 starts with our first (of many to come) excellent texture reviews. As ya'll know, we did the textures for FeelThere's Embraer Regional Jet, and Simflight.com just published a review about this particular virtual commuter. We could of course link you to the article, but to be honest, I find it waaay more rewarding to quote Benjamin van Soldt on some of the parts FIRST and THEN link you to the article :

"The fact that the textures are so bloody awesome, should be no surprise at all: the texture artists are with McPhat: by now renowned for their awesome paintjobs which look realistic and faithful to the real thing. This isn’t the first time they have done textures for FeelThere, either. Their EMB-170/190 product also sports liveries by McPhat, which look equally good."

AND

"I’ll say it once again: the texturing is simply great. I will go as far as saying that, under the right lighting conditions, you will have trouble recognizing this plane as a simulated model – you’d think it’s real."

Now, for the entire review, go on... click here.

We are moving! PDF Print E-mail

news_wwwThe past two years, residing on a shared hosting platform seemed like a good idea, but with the growth of McPhat our site has become mad slow. And because of that reason, we decided to jump up from shared hosting, to a virtual private server, with hopefully a faster website, as we get almost 10 times as much recources!

Of course our webman, Hank is usually on standby to do such tedious tasks, but as he is busy, he instructed us how to go about, which means we will probably break the site in such a manner it will be unrecoverable. Ha! All jokes aside, we might vanish of the face of the earth for a couple of hours, perhaps even a couple of days, judging by my IT-track record, but we will be back YO! Faster and fiercer than ever before!

Our (future) customers are important to McPhat Studios. Where some choose not to listen, we have always done so and will continue to do so.

Our World Airliners collection gained (a positive) notoriety when it comes to textures and liveries. Great reviews from the big portals and satisfied customers AND clients are the results of many long days, weeks, months and even years. Somewhere along the way, we got the feeling we forgot to do something. Something important.

We always composed our packages by asking ourselves what we THOUGHT you'd like, instead of asking you directly (mano to mano). So we decided that from now on, you will co-decide what the World Airliners will look like, and we will start with the World Airliners 2 for Captain Sim's 757.

We started a poll for you to choose which liveries you'd like to see best, we will then pick the best out of the bunch.

So, get cracking, cast your vote!

Why should I upgrade to Internet Explorer 7? Microsoft has redesigned Internet Explorer from the ground up, with better security, new capabilities, and a whole new interface. Many changes resulted from the feedback of millions of users who tested prerelease versions of the new browser. The most compelling reason to upgrade is the improved security. The Internet of today is not the Internet of five years ago. There are dangers that simply didn't exist back in 2001, when Internet Explorer 6 was released to the world. Internet Explorer 7 makes surfing the web fundamentally safer by offering greater protection against viruses, spyware, and other online risks.
