 Appraisal is not something you get if you do a little paintwork on the side. As Lead Designer I find myself staring at detail, that catches my eye, from the minute I wake up . I do not see my toothbrush, I see the dried up toothpaste that got left behind, because I cleansed it of too quickly the night before. I do not see the paste it self, I see the structure, the colour, and the density. I don´t see the tap when I take a shower, I see the rings of chalk, the dried up shampoo, and the way drops of water stick to the wall. But not just the chalk, shampoo and water, I see the different shapes of the rings of chalk, the colour of the dried up shampoo and how drops stick and attach in different ways, depending on the amount of dirt and grease on the bathroom tiles.... You can´t just see things though. You got to be able to ´explain´ how it got there. It is that level of attention to detail, but also that level of 'fantasy' and imagination that enables you to explain the 'why' and the 'how' that makes a good Texture Artist. We do not paint bucket glossy, flat planes. We texturize, materialize, and structurize a story about a piece of ultimate flying machinery. Planes are not meant to be pretty. It´s not just a pretty picture, it is tons of technology, robust materials, defying the laws of physics, withstanding the sands of time, the awesome -often underestimated- powers of the environment day in day out, cycle after cycle, pressurizing and depressurizing thousands of times, while rocketing through temperatures of minus 50 degrees, to spool down it's engines a mere 30 minutes later, backing in the hot 40 degrees blistering sun. That is what we give you. A true story, not a glossy magazine... |
